Each week in June carries a different safety theme that reflects high rates of injuries.
Each June, the National Safety Council (NSC) encourages organizations and communities to participate in National Safety Month – an annual observance to educate and encourage safe behaviors around leading causes of preventable injuries and deaths.
This year’s observance highlights the need to practice safe behaviors 24/7, as three times as many employees are injured off the job than while at work. Each week in June carries a safety theme that reflects high rates of injuries, which include:
- Employee Wellness – June 3 to 9
- Ergonomics – June 10 to 16
- Preventing Slips, Trips and Falls – June 17 to 23
- Driving Safety – June 24 to 30
In support of NSC and everyone that believes in a safe workplace Craig Safety will offer a FREE webinar on Preventing Slips Trips and Falls June 19 at 2pm CST in honor of the theme of this week. We will also have weekly blog posts and special give aways surronding the weekly theme.
Throughout National Safety Month, NSC will also be promoting the Presidential Active Lifestyle Award Plus challenge designed to motivate participants to make physical activity and healthy eating a part of their everyday life – critical elements to overall wellness.
NSC says that unintentional injuries and deaths in the United States remain at unacceptable levels, demonstrating the need for a national observance such as National Safety Month.
To assist employers the NSC is offering free materials including posters, facts sheets and quizzes are available at nsc.org/nsm to help spread the important safety messages slated for June.
